First setup

After installing BimBeau Privacy Analytics, review the main settings to make sure analytics collection, privacy behavior, and data retention match your website needs.

Good to know

This guide focuses on the first configuration steps for site owners. You do not need technical knowledge to complete this setup.

First configuration assistant

Eligible new installations open a four-step assistant once. It lets an administrator choose essential or advanced statistics, make an explicit one-time local GeoIP download, and optionally enable locally cached referrer favicons. All choices remain editable later. See First configuration.

Open the settings screen

In your WordPress admin area, open BimBeau Privacy Analytics, then go to Settings.

BimBeau Privacy Analytics settings are grouped into several sections, including general access, tracking and privacy, geolocation, app options, and maintenance tools. See Settings overview for a complete guide to these areas.

  1. Check who can access BimBeau Privacy Analytics

Review the access settings and decide which WordPress roles should be allowed to view analytics or manage BimBeau Privacy Analytics settings.

For most websites, administrators should keep full access. You can delegate analytics access to trusted editorial or marketing roles when needed.

  1. Review tracking and privacy settings

Open the tracking and privacy settings and confirm how BimBeau Privacy Analytics should collect analytics data.

BimBeau Privacy Analytics separates essential tracking from advanced tracking. Essential tracking keeps aggregate analytics available with minimal collection. Advanced tracking can provide richer insights when enabled and when your consent workflow allows it.

  1. Configure consent behavior

If your website requires consent for advanced analytics, make sure your consent management platform controls the advanced BimBeau Privacy Analytics tracker according to your privacy policy.

BimBeau Privacy Analytics does not replace your CMP or cookie banner.

  1. Set data retention

Review how long analytics data should be kept.

Shorter retention can reduce stored historical data. Longer retention can make trend analysis more useful over time.

  1. Review geolocation settings

If you use geolocation reports, check the available geolocation options and make sure they match your privacy and operational requirements.

  1. Save your settings

After reviewing the main options, save your changes and open the BimBeau Privacy Analytics dashboard to confirm that reports are available.

Essential vs advanced tracking

BimBeau Privacy Analytics uses two levels of tracking:

Essential tracking is the baseline analytics layer. It is designed for aggregate statistics such as page views, visits, Pages, Referring sites, Devices, Internal searches, Pages not found, and other core reports.

Advanced tracking can enrich analytics with deeper behavioral and technical information, depending on your settings, your product tier, and your consent configuration.

Important

Consent requirements depend on your jurisdiction, your website configuration, and the type of data you collect. BimBeau Privacy Analytics provides technical controls, but legal compliance remains your responsibility.

After saving your settings, test BimBeau Privacy Analytics with a simple workflow:

  1. Open a public page of your website.
  2. Browse one or two additional pages.
  3. Return to the WordPress admin area.
  4. Open BimBeau Privacy Analytics → Dashboard.
  5. Check whether visits, page views, or realtime activity begin to appear.

Good to know

New websites or low-traffic websites may need more visits before every report contains meaningful data.
