Settings overview¶
BimBeau Privacy Analytics settings control who can use the plugin, how analytics data is collected, how privacy-related options behave, how geolocation is resolved, how the PWA Stats App is opened, and how stored data is maintained.
Where to find settings¶
In the WordPress admin area, open BimBeau Privacy Analytics → Settings.
The settings screen is organized with tabs. The exact tabs and controls can vary depending on your BimBeau Privacy Analytics version, your Free or Pro plan, and the permissions assigned to your WordPress user.
What settings are for¶
Use BimBeau Privacy Analytics settings to adapt the plugin to your website before relying on reports for regular decisions.
| Settings area | What it controls |
|---|---|
| General settings | Role access, plugin display identity where available, visible panels where available, and Quick Stats options where available |
| Tracking and privacy | Essential and advanced tracking behavior, consent-related controls, session grouping, URL cleanup, retention, exclusions, and debug mode |
| Geolocation settings | The source used to resolve countries or cities and the status of the local GeoIP database when local mode is used |
| App settings | Access to the standalone PWA Stats App when available in your plan |
| Maintenance | Manual cleanup, uninstall cleanup behavior, and destructive data deletion tools |
First configuration checklist¶
- Review user access
Confirm which WordPress roles can view analytics, manage settings, and open the Contact page. Keep access limited to trusted users who need it.
- Confirm tracking mode
Check whether your site uses only essential tracking or also advanced tracking after consent. If advanced tracking is enabled, confirm that your consent management platform controls it correctly.
- Review DNT and GPC behavior
If the Respect DNT / GPC option is visible, decide whether BimBeau Privacy Analytics should stop measurement when a visitor's browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
- Set retention
Choose how long raw logs and aggregated analytics data should remain available, and how often automated cleanup should run.
- Configure geolocation
Choose the geolocation source that matches your operational and privacy requirements. If local database mode is used, review the database status and update frequency.
- Check app access
If BimBeau Privacy Analytics Pro is active and the PWA Stats App is available, copy or open the app URL from the App settings screen.
- Review maintenance before using it
Read the maintenance warnings before running cleanup or deleting analytics data. Export or back up important data first.
Before changing sensitive settings¶
Some settings affect what data is collected, how long data is retained, or whether stored analytics are deleted.
Important
Before changing tracking, retention, uninstall cleanup, or deletion settings, confirm the change with the person responsible for analytics, privacy, or website operations.
Recommended precautions:
- review your current privacy policy and consent setup;
- export or back up data that must be kept for reporting;
- test changes on a staging site when possible;
- avoid granting settings access to roles that do not need it;
- document internal decisions about retention and data deletion.
